What Are Embrionic Stem Cells?

Embryonic stem cells, as their name suggests, are derived from embryos.  Specifically, embryonic stem cells are derived from embryos that develop from eggs that have been fertilized in vitro - in an in vitro fertilization clinic - and then donated for research purposes with informed consent of the donors.  They are not derived from eggs fertilized in a woman's body.  The embryos from which human embryonic stem cells are derived are typically four or five days old.

Many adults are concerned and confused about the controversy surrounding certain treatments and research which utilize embryonic stem cells.  StemStore Technologies does not participate in any activity which utilizes stem cells from human or animal embryonic sources.  We seek only to serve the public through the cryostorage of stem cells from non-embryonic sources.  StemStore Technologies believes that the cryostorage of stem cells will save lives and improve the health of people that take advantage of this service.  However, StemStore Technologies will not participate in the controversial use of embryonic stem cells for any purpose.
